Step-by-step checks
- Check the door seal. Close the door on a strip of paper — if you can pull it out without resistance, the seal is failing.
- Clear the defrost drain. A small hole at the back of the freezer. If blocked, water refreezes into ice sheets.
- Manual defrost. Unplug and empty the freezer, leave door open for 6–8 hours over towels.

- Never chip ice with a knife or screwdriver — you can pierce refrigerant pipes.
- Refrigerant work is only carried out by qualified engineers.
