Gas safety notice

If you smell gas

  1. Do not use light switches, matches or anything that could cause a spark.
  2. Open doors and windows to ventilate the room and turn off the gas at the meter if it is safe to do so.
  3. Leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 (Northern Ireland: 0800 002 001).
  4. In an immediate emergency call 999.

Gas Safe registration

By law, only engineers on the Gas Safe Register may work on gas appliances in Great Britain. If we send an engineer to a gas appliance, they will carry their Gas Safe ID card, which you are entitled to inspect. You can verify any engineer at gassaferegister.co.uk or on 0800 408 5500.

Landlord duties

Landlords must, under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, arrange an annual gas safety check on all gas appliances and flues, and provide tenants with a copy of the CP12 within 28 days. See our landlord services page.

Carbon monoxide

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless gas that can be produced by faulty fuel-burning appliances. Warning signs include yellow rather than blue flames, soot marks around the appliance, and headaches, dizziness or nausea that clear when you leave the property. Fit an audible CO alarm certified to BS EN 50291 and test it monthly.

How we help

For non-gas repairs and routine appliance care plans we book qualified engineers through our platform. For gas repairs we will only dispatch engineers who hold the relevant Gas Safe registration for the appliance type. Contact support@kettlebridge.co.uk or call 020 8050 2402.
